1.2MW 120-Slot Whatsminer Hydro Mining-Container Deployment Case Study

Project Description

Deploying our whatsminer hydro container allowed an energy operator in Stavanger, Norway, to build a 12MW facility using nearby river runoff. While river water provided abundant cooling, heavy mineral content created severe scaling risks. To support 1,200 Whatsminer 2U rigs on site, we delivered 10 units of our 1.2MW 20HQ modular model.

Each 20-foot enclosure includes a 120-slot server rack and automated water treatment dosing. River water runs through an isolated secondary loop where filtration neutralizes minerals before reaching plate heat exchangers. This closed-loop barrier protects internal machine manifolds, reducing routine maintenance overhead by twenty-five percent without relying on municipal utility water.

Commissioned across eight weeks, the 10-container array delivers 99.8% system reliability under sustained electrical loads. Regular inspections confirm that internal heat exchangers remain completely free of mineral scale, securing full uptime reliability across all 1,200 Whatsminer 2U machines while keeping site operating expenses low.
