Ethash

The Ethash algorithm is a proof-of-work (PoW) cryptographic algorithm used primarily by the Ethereum blockchain to secure transactions and validate new blocks.

Designed to be memory-hard, Ethash is optimized to be resistant to ASIC mining, promoting a more decentralized mining ecosystem by allowing miners to use consumer-grade hardware such as GPUs (Graphics Processing Units). This memory-intensive design requires miners to store and process a large dataset, known as the DAG (Directed Acyclic Graph), which makes the mining process both secure and accessible to a wider range of participants.
